Sara joined Dwyer Durack’s Family Law department as a Consultant in August 2007.
After qualifying in the United Kingdom in 1983 she practised in the areas of juvenile crime and family law, including guardian ad litem work in child welfare proceedings until leaving the UK in 1986.
Sara then practised in family law, criminal law and litigation in the National Court and District Court of Papua New Guinea. She was also seconded on a part-time basis as a law lecturer to the College of Law in Port Moresby.
In 1989 Sara commenced practising in Western Australia in the Family Law department of Phillips Fox and subsequently with the firm of Corsers.
In 1993 Sara commenced practice as a partner in the firm of Gibson Tovey & Associates in Rockingham, where she developed a well-regarded Family Law department.
Sara then returned to city practice with Hammond Worthington in 2001 where she remained until June 2007.
Sara is a registered family dispute resolution practitioner and has chaired alternative dispute resolution and family dispute resolution conferences for some 15 years. She is also a nationally accredited family law mediator through the Australian Institute of Family Lawyers and Mediators and is available to chair solicitor-assisted conferences.
Sara has been a qualified Independent Children’s Lawyer since 1996 and has represented children and parents in children’s issues proceedings in the Family Court on a regular basis up to and including trials.
Sara’s areas of interest are specifically children’s issues, negotiation in family law disputes, representation in the Family Court and mediation. She is committed to achieving the best outcome for clients involved in the complex area of matrimonial disputes and related matters.
