The Misuse of Drugs Act 1981 (WA) applies to a wide range of drugs, including illicit and illegal drugs, as well as he abuse of prescription and over-the-counter drugs.

The severity of a charge and associated penalties depends on two factors:
- The type of prohibited drug in your possession; and
- The actual quantity of that prohibited drug.
